NWS Confirms Microburst in Whately - WGGB.com
SUNDERLAND, MA – The National Weather Service says a microburst occurred in Whately and Sunderland during the storm Thursday night. NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist out of Boston, Glenn Field told ABC40, “Radar indicated a very big bow echo, what was initially a straight line that started bowing out like a bow. We issued a Severe Thunderstorm all along its path last night. It was a very extreme signature of a microburst. So the assessment of MEMA and our coordinator has determined that it looks to them like a microburst.”
