NewYorkTimes.com – Amber Alerts, which already buzz your cell phone, light up highway billboards and appear on television and radio broadcasts, will now start showing up in your Facebook feed, too.
About 200 Amber Alerts are put out by American law enforcement agencies every year to inform people about children who have been abducted and are at serious risk of death or injury. The authorities ask those getting the alerts to keep an eye out for the child or suspected abductor, and typically provide basic information, like a photo of the child and the license plate number of the car driven by the suspect. The Amber program was named for Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old abducted and killed in Texas 1996, but is also an acronym for its official name, America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response.
TheEpochTimes.com – The Ohio State Buckeyes won the college football national championship on Monday night, and fans are celebrating–but perhaps a little too hard.
As in many similar cases, it appears that riots have started in Columbus and possibly other parts of Ohio. The action seemed to start with students trying to access Ohio Stadium. Large groups of students were turned away, though, by police.
Pictures show students gathering in large groups, while police fire pepper spray canisters into the crowd.
Saginaw Fire Department Lt. Christopher McGowan, left, and firefighter Brandon Hausbeck saved the life of a fellow firefighter last week when they were returning from the scene of a fire. The driver of their truck had a heart attack and they were able to park the truck, remove the driver from the cab, perform CPR and shock him with a defibrillator before a police officer transported him to Covenant Healthcare hospital a few blocks away.

MichiganLive.com – While riding back to the station after fighting a suspected arson on the city's East Side, two Saginaw firefighters noticed something wrong. Their fire engine, stopped at a red light, began to roll forward before the light had changed. That's when Lt. Christopher McGowan, 37, and firefighter Brandon Hausbeck, 24, realized their driver was unconscious. The two men sprang into action, stopping the truck and saving their fellow firefighter, who was suffering a cardiac emergency.
